Life Sciences Week is taking place 15 – 19 September in various venues across the West Midlands. It is a pioneering programme designed to bring together professionals, researchers, and businesses shaping the future of life sciences.  

Health Innovation West Midlands (HIWM) are proud to be involved in several events throughout the week, including:

Launch Event 

15 September, 11am-4pm, Millennium Point 

HIWM will be exhibiting at the launch event at the inaugural Life Sciences Week at Millennium Point. Stop by our stand and say hello to the team! 

Innovation, Funding and Opportunities in the Life Sciences – Roundtable hosted by the Technology Supply Chain 

16 September, 7.30-10.30am, Hotel Du Vin 

Speakers: Prof Gino Martini from PHTA, Judith Stewart from Health Innovation West Midlands, Ewa Truchanowicz from Bidshaper and Esther Lawrence from TBAT Innovation.

Unlocking Innovation: Life Sciences Research in the NHS  

16 September, 10am-2pm, PHTA Birmingham Health Innovation Campus 

Join HIWM for a dynamic roundtable symposium exploring how the NHS is advancing life sciences research across the West Midlands – with a spotlight on real-world examples from Staffordshire & Shropshire, Coventry & Warwickshire, and Birmingham. 

Sustainable Practices and Ecosystem Building in Regional Life Sciences 

17 September, 1.15-2pm, Birmingham City Football Club 

This session will involve a panel of experts exploring how sustainable practices and collaborative ecosystem building can drive innovation and growth in regional life sciences. Speakers include: Judith Stewart – HIWM, Martin Sandhu – Managing Director of nuom and Alex Toft – Founder and CEO of Toft Ventures. 

WMHTIA: Impact, Insights & the Future of Health Tech in the West Midlands 

18 September, 9am-12.30pm, Baskerville House 

Session: Birmingham as the Front Door for Health Tech Innovation, 10.55-11.05am 

HIWM’s Chief Officer, Tim Jones, on positioning Birmingham as a global gateway for health tech, with WMHTIA connecting local strengths to international opportunity.
