Published on 15 January 2026

Health Innovation West Midlands (HIWM) has announced the launch of recruitment for a new Chief Executive Officer ahead of the planned retirement of current CEO, Tim Jones, later this year.

Tim has been involved in Health Innovation West Midlands (then known as West Midlands Academic Health Science Network) since its inception in 2013 and has been at the helm of the organisation since September 2023, leading it through a successful re-licensing process and driving a period of strategic growth and impact across the region. Tim has agreed to remain in post until a successor is appointed, ensuring continuity during this important transition.

Jonathan Pearson, Chair of HIWM, said: “Under Tim’s leadership, HIWM has strengthened its position as the region’s health innovation engine, securing re-licensing and driving measurable impact. We now seek a new visionary leader to shape the next chapter of our journey. This is a rare opportunity to lead a mission-driven organisation at a time of real opportunity and challenge.”

Reflecting on his tenure, Tim Jones commented: “It has been a privilege to lead HIWM through its re-licensing and a period of strategic growth. Our partnerships and programmes have delivered real change, from reducing waiting times to improving patient safety and sustainability. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved and confident the organisation is well positioned for the future.”
