Grow Digital Health Midlands launches with first cohort of nine high potential innovators
Health Innovation East Midlands (HIEM) and Health Innovation West Midlands (HIWM) are delighted to announce the first cohort of nine high potential digital health companies for our Grow Digital Health Midlands programme.
Grow Digital Health Midlands is a new collaboration designed to help UK technology innovators scale proven solutions across the NHS and wider care system.
Following a competitive process, receiving 51 applications, nine have been successful and will receive a tailored package of support, including:
- One-to-one business coaching.
- Access to subject matter experts to aid product development.
- Significant opportunities to showcase innovations to NHS and care system decision-makers and influencers.
The programme will offer exposure to the Midlands health and care system, the largest NHS England region encompassing 11 Integrated Care Systems and the opportunity to bring forward digital solutions to address some of the most pressing NHS challenges.
Tim Robinson, Health Innovation East Midlands Commercial Director, on behalf of the programme, said:
“We’re proud to welcome the nine exciting innovators to our Grow Digital Health Midlands programme.
This programme has been shaped by input from NHS and care leaders across the Midlands and is aligned with national priorities, including the government’s three shifts. It was paramount that the companies demonstrated this as part of their application, demonstrating relevance and readiness, and the nine selected companies did exactly that.
We’re excited to support their innovator journeys, their growth and bringing change to our health and care systems.”
The key themes for the cohort were to seek innovators who have solutions that enhance NHS productivity and communication, and can reduce the demand for hospital based care.
The companies selected for the Grow Digital Health Midlands 2025 programme are:
Appthealth – a digital health platform that automates care coordination for people living with multiple long term conditions. The platform helps NHS services streamline appointments and reduces the time spent on administration tasks.
Hope for the community – The Hope Programme provides digital self-management for people with long-term conditions and carers. Co-designed with users, clinicians and researchers. It builds knowledge, skills and management to support health and wellbeing in the community, reducing the pressure on NHS services.
AirEmail – a digital tool enhancing healthcare communications supporting email management for healthcare professionals. The tool automatically detects patient related communication and prioritises urgent messages, supporting clinicians to effectively manage and prevent missed patient emails.
Kaenect – a clinical platform bridging the gap between GPs and community pharmacies allowing direct appointment booking through AI-powered, BaRS-compliant referral automation, consultation management, and patient engagement tools.
Surgfit – a remote patient assessment system for pre-operative surgical assessment, improving risk stratification and clinical decision making. Provides 24/7 remote monitoring outside of a hospital setting, supporting hospitals to deliver safer and more effective surgical care whilst addressing productivity, helping to reduce waiting lists and improving patient flow.
Heidi Health – an ambient Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool enabling automatic medical transcription, supporting clinician productivity by reducing administrative tasks. The tool allows clinicians to work more efficiently and focus more on the patient, and reduces the risk of burnout from completing activities in real time rather than at the end of a clinic.
Suvera – provides virtual clinics to support primary care outcomes for patients living with long term conditions. The platform helps to increase capacity, streamline workflows and improve patient outcomes.
ExpertCare – a clinical decision support tool that automates the collection of personalised information for hypertensive patients, saving time and reducing clinical resources. ExpertCare provides prescribing recommendations tailored to patient-specific data and NICE guidelines, including for those with multiple comorbidities.
Note Dr – an AI-powered clinical documentation tool that listens to consultations and automatically generates structured, accurate medical notes, letters and reports in real time. NoteDr integrates with existing workflows to reduce administrative burden, improve documentation quality, and frees up clinicians’ time to focus on patient care.
