Chair Vacancy

An exciting and rare opportunity has become available to lead an organisation at the heart of health and care innovation in the West Midlands.

Health Innovation West Midlands (HIWM) is seeking a new Chair who will play a key role within the region and nationally, using their experience and expertise to oversee the adoption and spread of innovations which transform lives.

In this role, as well as chairing our management board and providing strong leadership and management, the Chair will demonstrate excellent collaboration and communication skills.

You will be the cornerstone of influencing positive change both within the organisation and regionally, as well as nationally through the Health Innovation Network.

As a key ambassador and public face of HIWM regionally the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to represent the organisation nationally as part of a network of 15 Chairs across England’s Health Innovation Network.

An engaging, strategic and collaborative approach is essential, as HIWM brings together stakeholders across all sectors involved in healthcare including social care and public health, research and industry to support the development of transformational health innovations which greatly improve the lives of patients and our local population, who are at the heart of everything we do.

The post is part time, one day per week for three years in line with the current HIWM licence period.

Health Innovation West Midlands (HIWM) is part of a National Network of 15 Health Innovation Networks, collectively acting as the innovation and adoption arm of the NHS. HIWM brings stakeholders together across all sectors involved in healthcare including social care and public health, research and industry to support the development of transformational health innovations. We support the acceleration and the adoption and spread of improvement solutions, demonstrated to deliver patient benefit.

As part of this national network, we tackle national problems, with local understanding. And local problems, with national expertise. We are fully embedded in our local health and research ecosystem, partnering with organisations such as Birmingham Health Partners, WM Health Technology Innovation Alliance, WM Cancer Alliance, WM Research Delivery Network, WM Growth Company, WM Applied Research Centre (WMARC) and the West Midlands Secure Data Environment.
